Kennedy's Big Day

On Tuesday Kennedy started pre-school! She had been looking forward to this day for a while now and so have I! Not just because I get 5 hours with only 1 kid at home but because I know that it will be so good for her toget out and make new friends while learning a lot to prepare her for kindergarten. She was thrilled all the way until we got to her classroom. That's when the jitters set in. She clung to me and I knew it wasn't going to be easy to leave her. I finally just had to kiss and hug her goodbye, tell her I would be back to get her and then leave her in the arms of Miss Amy. She screamed out a time or two but I was hoping that she would be fine once I left, I really felt like she would. They didn't call me after I left her so I knew that she was fine. I was so enjoying my afternoon that around 12:30 I decided to lay in my bed and read a little bit while Will was napping. I felt really tired so I set the alarm on my phone just in case I fell asleep. And guess what happened? I didn't wake up. I mean I did, but it wasn't at the time I needed to wake up. Right when my eyes opened I just knew that something was wrong. I frantically started looking around for my phone and I looked at the alarm clock that told me the dreadful news: it was 2:15 and I was 15 minutes late to pick up my 3 year old from her first day at pre-school! I was freaking out. So I called my dear friend Shannan (thank goodness for good friends) who had already picked up her little girl from the same school and asked her where she was. I told her what happened and started to cry and she said, NO don't cry, be happy! I'm turning around right now, I'm going back! So Shannan saved the day, she got Kennedy who thank goodness had no idea that her stupid mother had left her! Shannan asked Kennedy how her day was and she said " IT WAS GREAT!!!" so I'm glad for that. I definitely got worst mom of the day award on Tuesday! Thank goodness it didn't make Kennedy not want to go back! She can't wait for Thursday morning to come!

Ready to leave
All smiles for school!
New backpacks are great!
Kennedy and Malorie ready for school!
That afternoon, Kennedy's big day continued when she started ballet! She had been waiting for the day she would start ballet and she was pumped. I put her in her new pink leotard, pink tights and white ballet shoes (that were a little tight) and we wer on our way! I was surprised that at this particular dance studio does not allow parents to observe the kids' classes. I mean I understand why, I just wasn't expecting to send her into a classroom by herself and I honestly didn't think she would go especially not knowing a single soul. I guess going to school prepared her or something because she walked right into that room and never looked back. She had a great time but since there was no way to look into the classroom I couldn't get pictures. I will take a picture next week before we leave for class.
I can't believe Kennedy is growing up so quickly and can go to pre-school and ballet! She's really changing a lot lately, her face is changing and her personality just seems a little more grown up. She's so sweet and we have a lot of fun together. She's our little princess.

I hate that feeling when you wake up and you just know you've messed something up. Thank goodness Shannan was close! Kennedy looks like she had a blast.

You are not a bad mom, you are just a tired mom who works really hard! Those things happen, and thank goodness for good friends!
