Kennedy's pre-school and Chandler's kindergarten class both had Thanksgiving feasts today. I really enjoyed going to both schools and hanging out with the kids and their classmates. Kennedy's school did a fun finger-food feast perfect for little fingers: rolled up turkey lunchmeat, marshmallows, grapes, oranges, cheese and crackers. The kids ate on the Thanksgiving placemats they made in class and sported their pilgrim and indian gear. It was sweet, I enjoyed it a lot.
After Kennedy's feast ended at noon, I headed over to Chandler's school to assist in their feast. I was recently asked by Chan's teacher, Ms. Kennedy, to be the Room Mom since the one they had resigned. She told me she thought I would do a great job since I seem "so organized and like you have it all together." VERY kind of her to say but I don't feel that way at all! Either way, I accepted the task and I'm excited. Sorry, that was an ADHD tangent. So I guess the kindergarten tradition is to have this feast every year once the kids finish up the unit on Thanksgiving. They cook inside the classroom and everything. It was very fun, I had a blast with them. I was in charge of making the chocolate mini-pies with 4 kids. Chandler, Dianella, Zach and Gaby were in my group. The kids were all very well-behaved and sweet. They thought making those pies was the coolest thing ever. For the feast they had Stove Top stuffing, green beans, rolled up turkey lunchmeat, fruit salad, chocolate pies and mashed potatoes that didn't turn out right so we couldn't eat them. They made their indian headbands and wore those too. Chandler got to be a pilgrim. That Ms. Kennedy is a saint for dealing with those 20 hyper little 5 and 6 year olds every day! I am so thankful that Chandler got such a patient and loving teacher for his first year at school. After we cleaned up, the kids got to have "dance party" in their room which Ms. Kennedy says they love. They danced to "Purple People Eater", the "Name Game Song", that teeny, polka-dot bikini song, and the "Rules of the Classroom" song which was a fun one with a hip-hop beat. The kids were so cute dancing, especially this one little guy Louis. He was gettin' down. School was over after that so we left for the week. Now the kids are out until Monday.
It was a very fun day!!
