I HATE Cavities
...More than ever after today. So this is really gross: I have had 5 cavities since I think like 2 years ago. When I found out I had them I didn't have the $$ to get them filled so I just let them go. Then I was pregnant so couldn't do it then. FINALLY we are financially able to pay for the fillings and I am NOT pregnant! I went today to my dentist, Dr. Stewart to have the job done. I had to take Will with me because I couldn't get a sitter and I was so worried that he would start screaming or something while I was in the chair. Right when the doc came in and was about to numb me up Will started fussing and I for some reason felt like I was going to have a panic attack! I thought that if the baby was crying then the doctor might yell at me for bringing my baby to have my cavities filled and disrupting the other patients. Luckily they gave me the laughing gas stuff so I calmed down immediately and so did Will. Prayers do get answered! I got the numbing gel in my mouth but I still felt the shots. I guess maybe they weren't as bad as they would have been had I not had the numbing gel stuff. The top one was just a pinch, but the bottom! Holy cow! I feel like after having babies I have a pretty high tolerance for pain but I guess not! That stinkin' shot hurt like the dickens! And he had to do it about 4 different times! Then my ear started hurting when he was shooting me and it felt like electricity going through my head! I swore to myself then and there to stop eating sugar and drinking soda so that I would NEVER have another cavity! The top cavity didn't hurt at all while it was being filled but that bottom one was a killer. He started drilling it (or whatever it is they do) and it felt like he was ripping out my nerves! So he stopped and let me numb up some more before he finished. Even after my toungue felt like a brick in my mouth and my lips were so tingly and felt like the size of a blimp the drilling still hurt. But I got it done and it was a worry off my mind. I STILL have to go back next week to have the remaining 3 cavities filled. 2 up top and one down bottom. YUCK. And THEN after that I need to go see an oral surgeon about having my wisdom teeth removed. Double yuck. Now the numbing has pretty much subsided but the back of my mouth hurts so badly when I open it. I can barely open it at all. I feel like slurping soup through a straw! Gotta run now, Chandler has soccer in an hour. Keep those teeth clean everyone!

I can empathize. Did you know I broke my 2 front teeth off on a parking lot once? Mouth trauma is a barrel of laughs.
I have to get my wisdom teeth out too. I already had the bottom two taken out but for some reason I didn't get the top ones out, and now the dreadful time has come. I don't think it will be that bad, but I'm sure you'll hear about it on the blog ;) Good Luck with the rest of the fillings!
Believe it or not- I hate cavities too!!! That's the worse when you can't get numb where you need to- just everywhere else. Mike's buying these movie glasses to try and distract his patients- if you have an mp3 player you could listen to some relaxing or rockin music to drown out the drill noise. Hang in there my friend.
Oh girl, I am so sorry! Cavities are the worst! The last time I went to the dentist they told me if I flossed that would help prevent cavities too, so ever since I have been flossing! The wisdom teeth thing is not going to feel good either, but at least you are out cold during that one!
My mouth actually started tingling and I could hear the high-pitched drilling in my head while I was reading along. I feel so bad for you! And my dentist always wonders why I wait so long between visits!
Ouchy! I hate the dentist. It's scary in there. At least you got it over and done with!
